CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR THE ELDERLY

Hi, my name is Harmony Mapunda, I live in Pretoria, South Africa. I am a wife and a mother of 3 girls. I am part of a ministry for the elderly called Fruitful Oldies.

Fruitful Oldies (FO) is an Interdenominational Ministry which started working with the with elderly people in 2016 in Mbayani and Chileka areas-Blantyre City, Malawi under Bible Faith Ministries led by Pastor J. Chikhwaza. At the moment, there are 291 elderly men and women in our records, most of whom live on their own or look after grandchildren with little or no financial support. The aim of the ministry is to support the elderly members of these two communities spiritually and physically. They meet every week for fellowship and spiritual support at the homes of two volunteering families where they receive much needed refreshments whenever possible as well as essentials parcels every once in a while from well wishers. For the past three years, Fruitful Oldies Ministry members have organised Christmas Get-togethers for the elderly people as a time of sharing the love of Christ Jesus with them. The word of God is shared as well as a hot meal and food parcels. This is a highlight event in the lives of the patrons. This year is no exception, the organisers are hard at work raising funds.

I therefore would like to ask you to partner with me as i "donate" my Milestone 40th Birthday (5th December, 1980) in bringing the best ever Christmas cheer for these precious elderly members of the society. Due to Covid-19, the two groups will not have a "Get together" celebration, instead they will receive food parcels containing of maize flour, rice, soya pieces and beans; and a few groceries like sugar, salt and soap on the 17th of December.
