Rays of Hope, Knowledge Exchange 2

There will be three focus areas:

Dr Pip McGirl: Understanding childhood trauma and its impact on social, emotional and cognitive development; a brain-based approach translating latest research on neurodevelopment and attachment theory; tools to bring healing for individuals and families and schools, using some case studies as examples.

 

Dr Chuck Piazza: Developing Sustainable and Innovative NGO Organizations, Leadership, and Partnerships: Focus is on creative leadership, management, and operations strategies and approaches for both Rays of Hope and its network of partner agencies. Interactive presentations, discussions, and learning activities include topics related to a) Designing and maintaining effective partnership structures, collaborative working relationships, two-way communication systems for stakeholders, and mentoring opportunities, b) A toolkit for start-up NGOs, c) Program assessment approaches--How does one measure progress in this field?, and d) Burnout and self-care techniques for service workers addressing complex and traumatic social situations.

 

Combined team: Revisiting and assessing the goals and process of “The North Star Vision” previously crafted, as well as its progress. Focus is on “How are we doing and where are we going in 2020 and beyond?”


The guest facilitators will travel to Johannesburg from

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Illinois, USA, and

Saybrook University, California, USA,

facilitated by TCS Education System.
