ABOUT

  • Bushwhacked and Barberton would like to invite you to an event in Barberton, which should appeal to all outdoors people (all welcome) , but focused on the guiding community. We would like to set up a yearly venue for guides and their families to meet each other, exchange experiences and knowledge in a relaxed atmosphere, with a few activities to participate in. To show you this beautiful area, with some of the oldest rocks in the world to be seen on the recently proclaimed World Heritage site GeoTrail. Look around some of our museums, showing Barberton’s rich geological and Gold Rush and mining history. Sir Percy Fitzpatrick lived, worked and wrote in Barberton, (a statue to commemorate Jock of the Bushveld stands in the town centre Khaki Feva is the first of its kind in Barberton and will become a yearly event (The Barberton Golf course is the base for the event)

Day 1. Thursday 14th November 2109

    1.              Queen rose hiking trail

 Queen Rose hiking trail is open to all to walk their 7km slackpack trail, along tree lined river, with opportunities to take a refreshing swim. This takes 2-3 hours (Free)   

    2.              Fountain Baths Guesthouse

Dinner/braai at the Historical Fountain Baths guest house - Roosterkoek Braai in the garden – R120pp . 6pm


A round of Golf R120 for 18 holes



Day 2. Friday 15th November 2019

    1.    7-12 am. Shooting and clay Pigeon shooting at Colins shooting range. R20 ppn .(for those people that bring their own rifle. Shotgun and clays available on site) 

2.   7-11am off road Motorbike/Quad ride in the mountains with Mark Nader (for those people that bring their own motorbikes or Quads) FREE

  3.   Walk the Fortuna tunnel trail overlooking Barberton 1.5 hours Torch needed 600meters through the mountain FREE

  4.   Golf, casual (R120 for 18 holes)

     5.   Horse Riding, either in an Arena or outride.  Contact Samantha   0764223404  (R150 for 45 mins)

    6.   1pm Snare Busters will be taking anyone interested, showing how to take up snares so that the evidence can be used in a court of law. FREE

    7.   Self-drive Geotrail visit and talk. Tony Ferrar who is very knowledgeable in the area and helped set the geotrail up will be waiting on the 

         Geotrail between 1-2 pm to answer your questions. FREE

  8.   4x4 trail, via Golden Quarry, gold panning with Dusty Track (please call Wynand 0726684063)

  9.   8am and 2pm Daily; Underground Gold mine tour and Gold panning with Barberton Adventures

 10.   GPS trail ---points of interest/historical locations in and around Barberton The Heritage Walk which features 7 provincial Heritage sites. Self drive/walk FREE

Day 3. Saturday 16th November 2019

 1.   7am Barberton Park Run - FREE

 2.   7-12 am. Shooting and Clay Pigeon shooting at Colin's shooting range. shooting R20 per person. ( own rifle and ammo needed

    (Shotgun and clays available on site)    

 3.   7-12am off road Motorbike ride in the mountains with Mark Nader (0wn off road motorbike needed) FREE

 4.   Self-drive Geotrail visit and talk. Tony Ferrar who is very knowledgeable in the area and helped set the geotrail up will be waiting on site between

    1-2 pm to answer your questions - FREE

                 Evening –spit braai on top of Lone tree hill overlooking Barberton - R150pp 

(camping, or sleep under the Stars overnight possible). No Bar available, no private fires allowed 

(Sappi land- fire risk). open air cinema screen.

Day 4. Sunday 17th November 2019

 

      1.         8am - Boskombuis  pub and grill  - Breakfast bun, tea and coffee R50

       2.         9am - Snake Presentation by ‘Lowveld Venom Suppliers’, (Boskombuis pub and grill)    FREE    

  3.      immediatly after snake presentation;     First aid lecture by Jan our local medic on relevant to issues in the bush.   FREE
