Akadaemia Award winners and S.A.M.A Nominees Deep South bring their highly entertaining brand of acoustic world music to Rootspring House for a performance on Sunday 27th of October.This power house trio of world class musicians and the beautifully crafted compositions of David Leadbetter ( soon to be leaving for the UK ) literally have to be heard and seen to be believed.
The immediacy and originality of their acoustic Odyssey begs parallel and they are lauded and admired wherever they play. Featuring the talents of David Leadbetter on Guitars and Piano, Ronan Skillen on Tablas and Hybrid Percussion and the wonderful Shaun Johannes on Electric Bass, the trio transfixes transforms and transports the listener with soulful melodious tunes of great beauty laced with infectious grooves and delivered with consummate musicianship.
The trio will be playing compositions off their last two CDs, ‘A Waiting Land ’ and their S.A.M.A nominated Akadaemia award winning 2nd CD ‘ Heartland ’, the latter a Rootspring release. A few new additions from the D.S songbook will also be performed and played for the first time. Their CDs include the talents of some of SA and Europe’s very finest musicians including Darren English,Shane Cooper,Mark Fransman,Kevin Gibson as well as ECM recording artiste Bjorn Meyer who plays onand recorded the Heartland album in Switzerland and Master Musician Bassist and edjucator Hein Van de Geyn.
We look forward to seeing you all there for one of the final gigs of this wonderful unique all South African trio before Dave leaves for the UK in December.
