Montagu Herb Festival
Fri Oct 18, 18:00 - Sun Oct 20, 12:00
Old Mission Church
ABOUT
This first-of-its-kind Montagu Museum Herb Festival will be paying homage to the local Khoesan, who were the initial harvesters of herbs in the area, as well as later Montagu residents who have given us their knowledge of the veld and local herb lore. The Festival will play a significant role in ensuring that this heritage surrounding local herb lore will be passed on to the next generations.
This promises to be an exceptional, fun-filled, educational event, combining talks, presentations and demonstrations about indigenous herbs and herb lore. Various exhibitors and vendors will add to the festive atmosphere with their herb-based wares for sale.
Guided hikes to the Donkerkloof area, where most of the Museum’s herbs are harvested, will give festival guests an insider’s view of the hard work involved in processing the herbs that form the basis for the Museum’s many herbal remedies.
Join us at the height of spring for this one-of-a-kind festival celebrating a unique aspect of our natural and cultural heritage.
