Johannesburg Bach Choir presents a Spring Concert at St Martin's

Sun Oct 20, 15:00 - Sun Oct 20, 17:00

St Martin's-in-the-veld Anglican Church

ABOUT

The Johannesburg Bach Choir is delighted to present its Spring Concert in October. The concert will feature extracts from JS Bach's Cantata No 6 "Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend werde", and his Motet "Jesu, meine Freude". These well known pieces show Bach's mastery of Baroque contrapuntal music and are a joy to listen to.

The concert will also feature Antonio Vivaldi's lively Credo (RV591) from which the Choir will sing the "Credo in unum Deum", "Et incarnatus est", and "Crucifixus".

Rounding off the programme will be some well-loved favourites: John Rutter's "For the beauty of the earth", and Howard Goodall's setting of Psalm 23. The latter was used for the popular TV series, The Vicar of Dibley. And if that hasn't inspired you, Gordon Young's "Halleluja! Loof die Here!" is bound to lift your spirits.

As always, the Choir will provide a scrumptious tea after the concert.

Conductor Tim Roberts will again be at the helm of a recently expanded Johannesburg Bach Choir, and the Apple Green Orchestra will provide accompaniment.
