RopeyThings CT + Sunga Konji: Sensual Rope Play

Sat Aug 3, 18:00 - Sat Aug 3, 20:00

Private Venue in Observatory, Cape Tow. Address TBC a day prior to the event

ABOUT

RopeyThings is a bondage collective established in Cape Town, South Africa in 2016. We are riggers of diverse backgrounds and skill sets, who came together over a mutual love of rope. Our aim is to create a collaborative, intersectional and safe space for those who would like to learn the ropes, as it were.

This will be a two hour workshop focused on the transition from technical rope skill development to sensual and expressive rope play. It's one thing to know how to work some knots and a whole different world to translate that into an enjoyable sensual moment for you and yours.

The event will be hosted by @sungakonji and his event partner, @awomanofgoodflame, in a queer-friendly, black-owned space and we welcome everyone at any rope skill level.

Arrive by 5:45pm for prompt 6 pm start

Things to consider for the best time of your liiiiiiiiife

Dress comfortably in a way that will allow direct access to some skin. This is a sensation and stimulation driven experience.

Partner up with someone you're comfortable getting sensually intimate with.

What to bring

  • 2 x 7 metres of rope, if you have
  • Safety shears
  • Snacks to share
  • Aftercare treats for you and your partner
  • Something warm to wear afterwards as this is an early evening class and it can get nippy afterwards

Make sure you don't eat too much food close to the event time, maybe make plans for supper afterwards.

Code of conduct:

  1. CONSENT - ask before touching, ask where rope can and can't be laid, where hands can and can't be placed. Communicate consent verbally in the space.
  2. SAFETY - communicate before, during and after tying, ask about each other's current physical/mental/emotional state. Discuss tying within your risk profile. At all times work within the guidelines of SSC/RACK/PRICK.
  3. COMMUNICATION - between tops and bottoms, but also with the event organiser. If anything non-consensual or unsafe occurs, let us know and we will act.
  4. ANONYMITY - some peeps don't want to be photographed/recorded. Obtain express consent (noting people that may be in the background) beforehand. Respect this and delete pics if asked. Don't out people who attend RopeyThings events - if you see someone you know, and they want to be anonymous in the space, respect each other and be discreet.
  5. KEEP IT PG13 - please don't treat this class as foreplay. It is an intimate art form, but this is not a sexual space. That being said - free the nip but keep the crotch area covered.
  6. SUBSTANCES - NO drugs permitted, as it puts the user, everyone attending as well as the organisers at risk of prosecution.
  7. ROAR - Right of admission reserved.

Accessibility:

This event is in someone's private home and there are four steps from the street into the building foyer and elevator access to the 11th floor of the building. Once in the venue the bathroom is up two flights of stairs from the tying area. Please let us know in advance if you require assistance accessing and navigating the space.
