Serious About Cinsault

Wed Jun 26, 18:30 - Wed Jun 26, 22:00

Grape Slave Tasting Room

ABOUT

Join Cape Wine Masters Janno Briers-Louw of Eenzaamheid Wines, and Debi van Flymen of Grape Slave & DvF Wine Distributors for an exciting wine tasting exploring Cinsault.

The variety has been produced in South Africa since the 1850s where it formed the backbone of the red wine industry until the 1960s as it could produce high yields. Initially, it was used to produce bulk wines, but later also some of South Africa’s top blends. Now, it is experiencing a bit of revival as a single cultivar, often in a lighter, fresher, easier to drink style.

The blind lineup will feature an array of wines for every palate and pocket and includes examples from overseas as well as Janno's own Eenzaamheid Wines, Kaapzicht, Fairview, Ian Naude, Waterkloof, Miles Mossop, and Natte Vallei as well as the rare, Andrea Mullineux CWG Cinsault 2015 from South Africa’s second oldest red wine vineyard.

A selection of soups and breads will be offered following the tasting giving you an opportunity to taste some of the other Eenzaamheid Wines and chat with the Cape Wine Masters.

Tickets R395 per person

Tasting will start promptly at 18h30 and end at 20h00 followed by a soup soiree for those wishing to stay for a light bite
