One night only! Cape Town jazz fans, get your tickets for this very special intimate concert by top Chinese duo Coco Zhao (vocals) & Huang Jianyi (keys) at the Radisson Red.

Coco's unique voice, imagination and expressive singing style have made him one of China’s most creative artists and, dubbed “China’s most promising young Jazz musician”, by Youth Daily, his fast rise to international recognition has seen him receive invitations to music festivals worldwide. Exploring the cross-sections between Chinese traditional music, western classical music and jazz, he has performed at, amongst others, the Montreal Jazz Festival, Jazz à Juan in France, Elbjazz Festival in Germany, JZ Festival in China, Singapore Jazz Festival, Hong Kong Jazz Festival & Copenhagen Jazz Festival. He has collaborated or featured with musicians including Sinne Eeg, Stacey Kent, Monique Klemann, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Christina von Bülow, Jacob Christoffersen and the JZ All-Star Big Band, the premier large jazz ensemble in China, directed by Mats Homquist.

Huang Juanji is lauded as one of China's top jazz pianists, and holds the distinction of being the first person in China to receive a Master’s Degree in Jazz Piano, from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Jersey, after previously studying at the Shanghai Conservatory and the Berklee College of Music, where he receiving instruction from Paul Schmeling, Ray Santisi, Laszlo Gardony, Joanne Brackeen, Joe Lovano, Jackson Schultz and others.

Also a composer, he received the Pee Wee Russell Scholarship from the New Jersey Jazz Association and won the US jazz trombone competition with his original composition Peace.

As a performer, in 1999 he founded the jazz band Footprint, one of the first modern Chinese jazz groups in Shanghai. He now plays regularly with jazz singer Coco Zhao as his pianist for the Possicobilities. Huang also plays as a soloist and leads his own multi award-winning band, the J3 Trio.
