ABOUT

*** Darker Dimensions presents: ABRACADABRA 2019 ***

^^^^^ An outdoor psychedelic trance experience ^^^^^

Abracadabra is an ancient incantation linked to magic and healing. The origins of the phrase are unknown, but it is thought to be linked to phrases in Hebrew which roughly translate to “I will create as I speak”. This is an idea which we feel embodies the spirit of the Psytrance scene here in Kwa-Zulu Natal. We exist to create our own happiness. As such, we invite you to an experience that will be sure to invoke love, laughter, and joy. Hosted at the HIghover Wildlife Sanctuary, we have found the perfect setting for an encounter with psychedelic culture. Nestled in the heart of the gorgeous Byrne Valley, we have been blessed with a beautiful forest setting on the edge of the mighty Mkomazi River.

Working hard for the past few years, Darker Dimensions is proud to have been involved in almost every major outdoor Psytrance festival in KZN. Building on the success of our stage at Connexion NYE Festival 2018-2019, we are honoured to be filling a void in the local scene calendar, as there will be no Moonstomp or Earthdance held in KZN this year. Through our Nocturnal Distortion series regularly held at The Winston Pub, we have built a family of passionate underground psychedelic music enthusiasts. Now we are ready to head outdoors and branch out on our own. Whilst our tastes are ever towards the harder and faster side of Psytrance, we have taken great care to curate a diverse line-up to complement each hour of the day and include flavours for every kind of psychedelic connoisseur. We are pleased to welcome our friends from ZuluTunes in Johannesburg to guide us through most of the night time hours. They are true sonic pioneers at the cutting edge of our scene on an international scale. Our day-time hours will be filled with local legends capable of handling their own on any stage around the world. Nothing beats a day rave in KZN when the DJ is cooking!

The festival will take place over the Women’s Day long weekend. In celebration of this, we will be offering ladies a variety of specials at the bar and stalls throughout the weekend. Music will officially begin on Saturday and end on Sunday but there will be a pre-party sound check on Friday night for a few hours to keep the thirst at bay, so pull in on the Friday and spend your public holiday in style.

**PEACE. LOVE. UNITY. RESPECT.**

No sexual harassment of any kind will be tolerated at this event.

**DIRECTIONS**

-----------

From Durban take the N3 towards Pietermaritzburg. BEFORE entering Pietermaritzburg, take the R603 (Umlaas Road / Richmond exit), and as you come off the exit, turn right onto the R603 towards Richmond – 29kms away. After about 5kms, there is a fork in the road, keep left towards Richmond – this is the R56. Take the turn-off into Richmond (NOT the first sign that says Richmond Hospital). Drive directly through Richmond along Shepstone Street, and 1km out of town take the left-hand turn to Hella Hella. Continue on tar for 15km and then wind down into the valley on an excellent gravel road. After 22kms, you will pass the entrance to the Hella Hella Adventure Centre on your left and if you carry on over the Mkomazi River and along that road for a further 2km you will see the HIGHOVER sign and entrance on your left.

HIghover Wildlife Sanctuary can also be reached by following the Hella Hella signs on the Ixopo / Donnybrook road (612). At Lufafa Road, take the right-hand turnoff which is the D114 to Hella Hella. Continue all the way towards Hella Hella, following the road down the pass. Traveling from this direction, the HIGHOVER sign is on your right approx. 2km before you’ve crossed the Mkomazi River. If you reach the river, you’ve gone too far.

From Johannesburg / Pietermaritzburg, take the N3 toward Durban. Take the R603 (Umlaas / Richmond road exit) and take the R603 Richmond exit. From there you follow the directions as per above from Durban. As you are now on the same road.
