The Bioscope presents a hands-on workshop with Sam, where she will introduce us to the biggest personal finance risks for everyone, including small business owners, freelancers and entrepreneurs and how to avoid them. She’s funny, she swears like a trooper and she’s made every money mistake already so you don’t have to.

When not running her own fintech startup, Sam Beckbessinger writes and speaks about how the South African middle class can get hold of their finances, and take active steps to build their wealth — something every one of us can and should do. An advocate against financial bro talk designed to mislead the monetary layman, Sam broaches topics like investing, cashflow and compound interest with her unapologetic sense of humour and insight based on years in working as a user experience designer in the financial services industry.
She has also been a children’s book author, a startup coach, and was a 2014 Mandela Washington Fellow at Yale University, where she got to high-five Barack Obama (true story).
