Join us in a final celebration of the year, as Roots Up in partnership with Red Bull Music presents the third Sunday School hosted by S43_Home of That Brewing. In the spirit of gift giving, Sunday School presents you not with gold, frankincense and myrrh but the perfect blend of the country’s hottest acts and DJs. Sunday School 3 sees Cards on Spokes, PURE, and DJ Maramza making the pilgrimage for a party truly worthy of a Durban Summer. It also features local talents MISSU, Raheem Kemet, Nipho Hurd, Thoba Ndlovu, and DJs SoKool and Andee.

Once the voice of Durban’s notorious gypsy punk band Fruit and Veg, Durbanite PURE makes her return home. Presenting her growth as a multidimensional artists, PURE has spent the year earning acclaim for her dynamic live performances while releasing her EP “Vocal Alchemy”. Blessing us with his first ever Durban performance, Card on Spokes is the brainchild of Cape Town based jazz musician Shane Cooper, a live electronic music project taking influence from hip hop to house music, and subtle colours from his jazz roots, he has crafted a unique style that is constantly evolving. CoS has seen rapid success in the last few years.

Building upon one of the most consistent years for Durban’s younger musicians, Sunday School 3 features some of Durban’s best and hardest working acts. Nipho Hurd have spent the year honing their skills in Durban’s various venues and studios while and Thoba Ndlovu has been doing his thing in JHB. Each brings their own separate blend of modern Soul and RnB driven by powerful vocals to the table. To keep the party going, producer and composer MISSU will bless us with a live set. With a mix of prolific work ethic and expansive musical taste, he has been spent the last year burning through the country with a mix of live performances and high octane DJ sets across. MISSU has also backed this up with the release of his acclaimed EP “An Education”. Raheem Kemet is no stranger to Durban audiences, a stalwart of the scene who has played a role through various acts and performances. He is closing out the year after the successful release of his latest single Never Late.

The dancefloors will be kept alive throughout the evening by Djs Sokool, Andee, and Maramza. Sokool, aka The Big Booty Thug, has been a staple of Durban’s party scene for the last couple years, playing nearly every dancefloor that's worth getting down on. Andee has spent the year from throwing one of the city’s hottest parties behind the scenes to making the dance floors jump from behind the decks. Dj Maramza, one of South Africa’s finest DJs, began his career producing hip-hop for the likes of Hymphatic Thabs, the late Mischif, Tumi Molekane, while his sound has grown from Kwaito and Gqom and Future Electronica. He has collaborated with South Africa’s hottest musicians from Moonchild, Ricky Rick, Sibot and Sketchy Bongo.
