Hape?! (meaning “Again?!” in Sesotho) is a surreal and emotionally charged experimental theatre production that explores grief, fate, and the boundaries of human agency. The story follows Tshepo, a successful lawyer who is forced to relive the same day over and over, the day his beloved daughter Thato dies.

As time folds in on itself, the courtroom becomes a liminal space haunted by the three Fates who intervene through the Judge, blurring the line between the mortal and the mythic. With each repetition, Tshepo tries desperately to change the outcome, refusing to accept the loss of his child. His anguish draws the Fates into direct confrontation, forcing them to reckon with the cost of divine order and the chaos of human love.

Hape?! is a meditation on the futility of resistance in the face of inevitability, and the power (and price) of letting go. The production merges classical mythology with contemporary African realities, challenging audiences to consider whether fate is fixed or can be negotiated through sheer will and unbearable love.
