DISTRICT SIX – THE MUSICAL

Protea Heights Academy is thrilled to announce that we will be showcasing our school musical this year: "District Six – The Musical", Book and Music by David Kramer & Taliep Petersen.

“DISTRICT SIX – THE MUSICAL” is presented through special arrangement with MUSICMAKERS, representing Kramer and Petersen, and all authorised performance materials have been supplied by MUSICMAKERS, 1 Ajax Way, Pinelands, 7450, Cape Town.

About District Six – The Musical

Set in the vibrant yet turbulent heart of Cape Town’s historic District Six, this powerful musical tells the story of a once-thriving community that was uprooted during the forced removals of the apartheid era. Through a captivating blend of music, dance, and storytelling, the production vividly portrays the resilience, spirit, and heartbreak of the people of District Six. Featuring beloved songs and rich cultural narratives, this musical is an unforgettable tribute to Cape Town’s heritage.

Content Advisory

As part of its authentic storytelling, District Six – The Musical explores themes and scenes that reflect the realities of life in District Six. The production includes mild profanity, references to alcohol consumption, subtle sexual innuendos, and a scene depicting violence. These elements are presented within the historical and cultural context of the story and are handled with sensitivity. However, parental discretion is advised for younger viewers.

Please note that seating on all nights is unreserved, so we encourage early arrival to secure the best available seats. First come, first serve basis will be enforced.
