Friday Night Live is a series of beautiful, intimate performances from some of the most exciting talent Cape Town and South Africa has to offer, hosted at the KAYA Café. Friday Night Live is an event for performers to take in their own direction, creating an environment for audiences to engage deeply with the music, the meaning, and the people behind it all.

In this edition of FNL, we are joined by Mila Smith! Mila is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa and signed to Platoon - an artist services, A&R, and music distribution company owned by Apple Inc. With diary-style lyrics that peel back the curtain on her personal experiences, Mila has a soulful heart-on-sleeve sound and soaring emotional vocals that express a maturity and storytelling ability beyond her young years.

April 2021 saw Mila’s debut as a solo artist following the release of her first single ‘Liars and Fakes’. A disco pop anthem that reached number 1 on the 5fm SA Top 10 charts for 3 weeks running, with its Tensnake Remix garnering over 400 000 streams. The show will be opened by the wonderful Tyler Page; Tyler's journey to the spotlight began on social media, where her captivating ukulele covers and mesmerizing delivery caught the attention of Bad Future, an alt-pop record label, leading her to sign a deal in mid-2020. In 2020, Tyler's debut single "Don't Believe the Aliens" gained traction, securing a spot on Fortnite's Underground car radio station and earning a spot on Spotify's Radar Africa playlist, dedicated to emerging African artists. Her music also landed on numerous playlists across platforms like Apple Music and Deezer.
