As Sterra Lucas aka Sterra on Percussion

The drum plays an important role in every aspect of my life, including the physical, emotional and spiritual. I never knew that I would play the drum since I was never taught or practiced. I held it on my hands and it spoke to me. Played it to communicate, celebrate, mourn and inspire. I found peace in a hand made djembe drum. 

Around the world tens of thousands of young people face barriers to education and livelihoods, especially those living in low-resource communities. From what I saw AfrikaBurn is a participant-created movement, an inclusive community for building, creativity, self-reliance and radical self-expression. It is a chance to invent the world anew. And it a best feeling to be part of a movement that sees a better world. 

I bring forward drums where anyone involved can express emotions, can create rhythms and voice expression. It is a moment where one can hear oneself and feel that excitement and joy from within.
