ABOUT

Written by Peter Speed, Directed by Paul Spence

3 Climbers discover the past is more dangerous than gravity.

Deadpoint n. Climbing term. The moment (in a dynamic move) of weightlessness where upward movement ceases, but before downward movement starts.

Three people who were victims of an attack on a climbing trip, where a friend was murdered, meet seemingly by chance in a remote, weather-beaten hut. They were all traumatised. They carry the emotional scars of the event. There is survivor guilt, guilt, betrayal and unresolved issues that lie just below the surface. They meet at the point where the past catches up with them, the deadpoint.

Biographies of Actors

Axl Forder

Axl Forder is an actor/writer and a Drama Masters graduate from Rhodes University. He is known for his work in theatre and music around KZN, the Karoo and the Eastern Cape, as well as for his anarchic and surreal sense of humour and darkly playful talent to amuse. Axl has performed in everything from pantomimes and murder mysteries to gritty dramatic thrillers and experimental performance art.

Kath McClelland

Kath McClelland has become one of the KZN Midlands’ most respected and admired musical talents since semigrating from Johannesburg several years ago. She has made her mark on the local scene in many musical productions with her trademark smoky vocals, keyboard talents and irrepressible sense of humour. Notably, Kath stars in the current hit Neil Diamond tribute show “Diamond is Forever” with Paul Spence which has played 70 venues from the KZN coast to the Free State, Karoo and Eastern Cape. Kath also stars in “Joni & the Joans” with Erin Fourie and Grace Botha and her new Adele tribute, “Adele and the Blokes” opens in September 2024.

A music teacher and choir director, Kath is the director of the Music Voyage outreach project.

After seasons in repertory and productions on London’s Fringe, Paul worked as an actor and director in theatres from Belfast to Copenhagen, Vienna to Tokyo.

Paul currently produces the hit Neil Diamond hit music tribute show, “Diamond Is Forever” alongside other cabaret shows which tour South Africa.
