Rodriguez, Real name Jesus Sixto (pronounced Sees-too ) Diaz- Rodriguez 10 July 1942 - 8 August 2023

Rodriguez changed the lives of many South African Kids in the 70s. COLD FACT was the go to Album for some Comfort and escape in the Tumultuous and heavily authoritarian place that was South Africa at the Time.
He sold more Records here than Elvis. He was bigger than The Rolling Stones, whereas back home in Detroit, he was barely known.
His Story was documented in "Searching For Sugarman ", a Movie put together by South Africans Stephen Segerman & Craig Bartholemew (directed byMalik Bendjelloul )which won a BAFTA Awardfor Best Documentary.
Rodriguez performed in South Africa more than 30 times between 1998 and the beginning of the Pandemic in 2020.
Playing Tribute to him tonight are 4 Different Acts from Cape Town , each of whom give thier take on how his music influenced them.
They are James Kibby, Roy Kassel,Lydney Crots and Flip Squad.
