Surrounded by a musical family, David started piano at 7 years old and trumpet at 8, inspired by regular visits to concerts by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and listening to selections of his father’s large vinyl collection and song writing books. He graduated Bachelors of Music from University of Cape Town in Jazz Studies.

Before David’s debut release as a solo recording artist, he was best known for his performances with Arno Carstens and member of the rock supergroup Springbok Nude Girls, winning Best Rock Album in South African Music Awards (SAMA) in 2022.

David’s session musician and song writing credits also include Mike Rutherford (Genesis, Mike and the Mechanics), Jack Hardman (Good Boy), Zolani Mahola (Freshlyground), Judith Sephuma, Jimmy Dludu, and many upcoming artists like Gabriela Diamond.

David has performed across Africa, Europe and Asia, including Isle of Wight Festival (UK), St Paul's Cathedral (UK), Oppikoppi (SA), Rocking the Daisies (SA), and winner of MELA Award for Contribution by Youth to South African Music Industry.

David’s solo album release No Other Love is set for early June 2023, including singles “Magic” and “Tonight”. The album follows a collection of love songs, with his usual nostalgic production, catchy melodies and soaring lyrics.
