ABOUT

Save the date! Join Plant the Seed's event to support their Zero Waste Toolkit educational video sponsorship drive. The Zero Waste Toolkit is an innovative solution to South Africa's waste problem, and to find out more about recycling and the circular economy.

Why

With only 7.5% of South Africans currently recycling, and over 90% of waste ending up in landfills, we have a chronic throw-away culture and waste crisis. One of the key hurdles to turning the tide on waste is the knowledge and education gap. Plant the Seed is dedicated to addressing the education gap around waste and recycling, and with your help, we can create a powerful education video series to make a greater impact. The time to act is now!

Our Education Video Series will not only take our education and training offering to the next level and support our Zero Waste Toolkit service, but it will be made freely available to the South African public and serve as a valuable resource for schools and businesses looking to reduce waste and adopt more sustainable practices. By supporting this initiative, you will help us reach a wider audience and make a greater impact.

What to expect

But wait, there’s more! Our event will feature guest speakers shedding some light on waste in the Western Cape, what is happening in the recycling and circular economy, and what can be done to tackle our waste crisis.

  • Packaging 101 and what to look out for (Murray Charter, Viro Solutions)
  • Recycling and waste minimisation highlights in the City of Cape Town (Alison Evans, City of Cape Town)
  • Building the Circular Economy in South Africa (Lorren de Kock, WWF)
  • What schools are doing to contribute to waste minimisation (Jennifer Wallace, WGHS)
  • Zero Waste Toolkit and a holistic approach to recycling and waste minimisation (Mattieu Theron, Plant the Seed)

How to support us

We are looking to raise around R475k to develop a comprehensive educational video series around recycling and waste in South Africa.

  1. We are actively looking for corporate sponsors to help us achieve this goal. We offer three sponsorship package tiers for corporate and businesses to choose from.
  2. Attend the event and purchase a raffle ticket to make an individual contribution.
  3. Share the event with friends, family and businesses you think would be interested in supporting this initiative.

So, come and show your commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, and help us move towards a more sustainable future. You will not want to miss this event!

Who is this event for?

This event is open to the public, but we encourage potential corporate sponsors, school principals, teachers, and small to medium-sized businesses interested in implementing our Zero Waste Toolkit Service offering or contributing as a sponsor to attend.
