Self-taught singer / songwriter, Gareth James, a humble but passionate advocate for South African music, is celebrating his 25th anniversary in the music industry this year, after his passion for music was ignited at the tender age of 16. Gareth carries a cross for music and started his career in rock and transitioned to Modern Country music with a sound that transcends the sultriest bar. With his innovative fusion of country, rock, pop genre, Gareth is proving himself as a once-in-a-generation force of change in modern music and is far from pushing the envelope.
Gareth received a Certificate of Nomination this year for multiple award designations for the Eleventh Annual Production of Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards to be held on 19 - 23 October 2023 in Memorial City Hall Performance Centre, Marshall, Texas, U.S.A.
Gareth will be joined on stage by singer-songwriter, Ruben Gerritz, who has his heritage in blues, but who being open to the influence of many different genres during his musical development, now eliminates boundaries in music and creates his own unique sound. Writing songs mostly with an indie pop vibe, when he performs his original music solo, he likes to give some songs a funky African touch that proves to strike a chord with the audience.
Gareth has been performing his sell-out, rave review “The Revival: A Tribute to Cat Stevens and Rodriguez” in various venues countrywide, evoking a feeling of nostalgia with Cat Stevens’ hits like “Moon Shadow, Lady D’arbanville” and “Wild World” to mention but a few, as well as Rodriguez hits, “Sugar Man, I Wonder” and “Rich Folks Hoax”, amongst others.
