A MAGICAL EVENING OF CLASSICAL MUSIC

In concert will be Gerhard Joubert who has appeared as soloist with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) on several occasions, playing first movements of piano concertos by Mozart, Schumann and Chopin. In September last year, he recorded the full Schumann Piano Concerto with Bernhard Gueller conducting the CPO. He also performed the Schumann Concerto twice with the Namibian National Symphony Orchestra (NNSO) in the same month. In May/June 2021, he collaborated with Cape Town City Ballet as the pianist for nine performances of Les Sylphides, where he performed several piano compositions of Chopin, with the dancers.

Gerhard Joubert is a laureate of many national music competitions, including first prizes in the Johann Vos (2019) and the Pieter Kooij (2018) competitions. He also received the first prize in Pretoria at the Atterbury National Piano Competition held during October 2021 and received the Laura Searle Prize for Piano Concerto Playing in November 2021. In December 2021, he received the first prize and other special awards at the National Youth Music Competition, after performing Liszt’s first piano concerto with the CPO. He has also received a series of masterclasses from Albie van Schalkwyk and was a member of the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir from 2011 to 2014, touring to Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa and Europe.

Dinner will be served after the concert at R300 PER PERSON for a two course meal.
