This Audio is Visual and photographer, Nonzuzo Gxekwa, invite you on a Taxi Diaries Walk through Fordsburg, on the 10th and 11th of December. Gxekwa recently self published a photography publication called Taxi Diaries, which sees her go through her archive of 10 years documenting Johannesburg from her hip, through conversations and interactions with people she comes across in the city, when we sat down with the photographer for a TAIV interview in 2019, she shared a bit about how she began engaging the city and what it offered on a daily basis.

“Being in the city, Johannesburg, you always hear about how dangerous the city is and somehow you are always fearful that when you are amongst people, you are not open. I just decided I will stop doing that and try to make as many images as I can.”

The Taxi Diaries Walk will accommodate 10 people per day for the two dates in December. The walk will be an hour long. Nonzuzo will lead you through a route with points and locations that have been of interest to her over the years. Tickets are R200/person.

?Please bring a water bottle, a sun hat, sunscreen in a small bag or tote and importantly your phone to make images. The meeting point and route will be announced upon ticket purchase.
