The Beau Soleil Piano Quartet consists of current full time Beau Soleil Music Centre staff members Dr Grethe Nöthling (piano), Marina Louw (viola) and Dane Coetzee (cello), in collaboration with former staff member and independent musician Valentina Vorster (violin). The group aims to act as ambassadors for Beau Soleil, to increase the visibility of the Music Centre on the concert platform and to advertise the excellence of the performing arts’ tuition that is available at Beau Soleil Music Centre.

Dr Grethe Nöthling was appointed as resident accompanist and piano teacher at Beau Soleil in Jan 2022. She holds a Doctorate of Music from the University of Iowa and a Master of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, USA. Grethe won several national music competitions, awards and bursaries and has performed as a soloist with the CPO, KZN Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa and the Free State Symphony Orchestra. She is also an avid chamber musician and performs regularly both in the USA and at numerous music festivals in South Africa.

Valentina Vorster obtained her BMus in Violin Performance at the National Academy of Music in her native country Bulgaria, where she won several national competitions for solo violin and chamber music. She was the co-principal of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom she also appeared as soloist. Throughout her career she performed with several of South Africa’s top musicians. Valentina was a part-time violin teacher at Beau Soleil Music Centre some years ago. Since 2019 she has had her own violin studio at El Shaddai Christian School and performs as an independent soloist and chamber musician.

Marina Louw is currently the Principal and Head of Strings at Beau Soleil Music Centre. She obtained a B.Mus (cum laude) in Viola Performance from the UFS and an M.Mus (cum laude) from the US, and attended several master classes with Kató Havas in Oxford (UK) in course of her studies. Marina performed as a soloist at several Youth Music Concerto Festivals as well as with the Cape Town Baroque Ensemble. She was a fulltime member of the National Symphony Orchestra of the SABC before moving to Cape Town, where she regularly freelances for several professional orchestras and chamber groups.

Dane Coetzee joined Beau Soleil as the full-time cello teacher in October 2021. Prior to that he was a member of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Dane graduated in performance studies from the Universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch respectively. Dane has appeared as soloist with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, The Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Musicanti Orchestra. Outside of Beau Soleil he is active as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist, performing across a broad range of music genres. Dane is also active as a musician in the New Apostolic Church.
