PLEASE NOTE: The course runs over 2 days, Friday evening and Saturday morning (times below). A single ticket will provide access to both days.


Understanding and identifying adverse childhood experiences (stress/trauma) and the psycho-social crisis on your child now, and how it manifests in adulthood.


COURSE DETAIL - We will be looking at:

  • Psychological stages using a lifespan model
  • God Images with respect to the developmental stages
  • Psycho–social and cultural context with respect to God images
  • Explaining the “psychological crisis”
  • Identifying the 5 basic virtues
  • Basic tools and skills to offer pastoral and practical support
  • Do’s and don’ts
  • Case studies
  • Practical exercises
  • Questions and answers

  

COURSE INFO:

This course is registered and accredited with the CPSC and provides 4 Continued Professional Development (CPD) points for registered CPSC professionals.

 

Day 1: Friday 1 July 18:00 to 21:00

Day 2: Saturday 2 July 09:00 to 13:00

 

Tea, coffee and snacks are provided on both days.

Please note, that there is no childcare provided.

 

Pre-registration and payment only.

 

A certificate of attendance will be provided.

 

Cost: R275 for both days. Limited to 50 participants.

 

COURSE FACILITATOR:

Rev. Dennis J Beeselaar

Qualifications: LTh, MTh(Stell)

 

Dennis has pastored two Baptist churches namely Strand Baptist Church and George Baptist Church and was appointed in August 2006 as Care Pastor at Rosebank Union Church.

 

In addition to his theological and clinical pastoral qualifications and experience as a pastor, Dennis also served as the Manager and clinical pastoral counselor at a psychiatric clinic and TB/HIV and Aids hospital. Dennis also served as Director of Philippi Trust SA, a registered Non-Profit Christian organization that offers counselling training and Christian counselling

 

Dennis, together with other trainers including Ms Chantal Philander from Southside Church, has developed various counseling training materials dealing with, amongst others; HIV/Aids, trauma, depression, stress and anxiety. His courses on pastoral care are used by institutions such as Baptist Theological College and the City of Cape Town. Dennis has a passion to equip the local church in pastoral care and counseling for active service and ministry to those in need.

 

Dennis has relocated to Durbanville with his wife Jackie and they have two children, Annari, Gabri and grandchildren, Ann and John.
