To celebrate World Albatross Day on the 19th of June, the Mouse-Free Marion Project are launching a raffle to raise the much-needed funds to conduct the mouse eradication operation planned for Marion Island.

Invasive House Mice have been harming the ecology and biodiversity of Marion Island and have resorted to eating chicks and even adult seabirds alive. By purchasing a raffle ticket for just R 100 you will be contributing to helping ensure a healthy future for Marion Island’s albatrosses and other seabirds, and stand a chance of winning one of two prizes.

A copy of The Ultimate Companion for Birding in Southern Africa by Peter Ginn & Geoff McIlleron.

 

The most spectacular collection of southern African bird photographs ever assembled, this visually stunning two-volume book showcases the diversity of South African birdlife.

A limited-edition print from well-known South African natural history artist and illustrator, Leigh Wolfaardt‘The Albatrosses of the Prince Edward Islands’ is an artwork specially created by Leigh to showcase the five albatross species that breed at the Prince Edward Islands.

 

In celebration of World Albatross Day, a signed and editioned A3 high-quality giclée fine art print of this artwork has been donated by the artist to raise funds for the Mouse-Free Marion Project. The artwork is annotated with interesting facts about each of the species, in the style of a natural history study, with great attention to scientific accuracy and detail.
