Introducing Simfonia Juventi Classical Music Concert
Heidelberg 20 and 21 May 2022.
The event
Simfonia Juventi Heidelberg is a celebration of classical music in the historical setting of Heidelberg, Gauteng, on the grounds of the century old Heidelberg Heritage Museum.
This event is very special as it is the first of only 3 concerts performed by this orchestra annually. We would like to believe that Heidelberg was selected as venue for its rich cultural heritage, its excellent location, and the conviviality of its people.
As a congregation we have been hosting this event in Heidelberg since 2017. It started as a fundraising event for our youth initiative aimed at the spiritual and social upliftment of children but has grown to a celebration that brings the love of classical music to the youth of Heidelberg, through local school participation, and to music lovers from near and far that has sold out this even from its inception. They came to appreciate the beauty of the wonderful, youthful talent of this unique orchestra and its conductor.
Each year we strive to also offer our guests a culinary treat and this year is no exception. The optional food package will be prepared by the renowned Austrian “Adler” restaurant and the “Bratwurst and Schnitzel” light meal is in keeping with the Austrian theme of our concert. Don’t miss it.
For the thirsty, the Heidelberg Beer Brewery will also offer a unique tasting package to visitors at a very special rate. For the coffee lovers “Bean to Heidelberg” will fix that craving.
We will accommodate 360 guests in each of two shows. One show scheduled for Friday afternoon the 20th of May at 14:00 offering discounts to the elderly and scholars and one for Saturday evening the 21st from 19:00.
The Orchestra
Simfonia Juventi, was established in 1981, and consists of 77 talented young musicians, selected from all over South Africa. Members reflect musical knowledge, technical excellence and an abundance of talent. The orchestra is constituted yearly after extensive auditions to select the best young talent. The orchestra then breaks away for an intensive training camp and after all the rehearsals, performs only three concerts each year.
The Orchestra is led by the well-known and celebrated Naledi Winning Musical Director, Conductor, Arranger/Composer and educator, Mr. Eddie Clayton.
The repertoire includes renowned classical composers such as Rossini (Barber of Seville); Beethoven; Haydn; Mascagni; Strauss (Wiener Blut); Bizet; Loewe; Max Bruch.
The two concerto soloists are: Gunter Jürgens (Violin) and Andrew Holdt (Clarinet).
