ABOUT

CAPE TOWN CAROLS at KIRSTENBOSCH is an iconic Cape Town institution experienced by thousands of families each year. It is presented by the Rotary Club of Kirstenbosch as its main fund-raising event every year, proudly sponsored by Pick 'n Pay in recent years.

This year, due to Covid-19 regulations, we are unable to enjoy Carols on the amphitheatre lawns of our magnificent Kirstenbosch Gardens. So we decided to share Cape Town Carols at Kirstenbosch 2020 with families and friends worldwide in an online video format.

In keeping with our successful Carols format we will present pre-Carols entertainment –a musical mix for all - provided by gifted local talent, recognised here and abroad, including: classical crossover group Sterling EQ, the Tygerberg Children’s Choir, our number one children’s choir in the world; the Drums and Pipes of the Cape Town Highlanders and Rosanthorn Electric Trio.

This will be followed by the narration of the message of Christmas, with music by The Flowers Band from the UK and our very own Cape Town Concert Brass Band, with Carols sung by ALL of us and the solo voices of Blaine Josephs, Kirsten Pienaar and Gabriella Knight.

The Rotary Club of Kirstenbosch is a very small club, one of 31,000+ clubs, in 167 countries, with +/- 1,2 million members worldwide, whose motto is “Service Above Self”. Rotary International provides humanitarian services, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.

We would like to thank:

- the management and staff of the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Town for their ongoing support and for the magical Kirstenbosch Gardens;

- our Sponsor of the annual physical event in the Kirstenbosch Gardens, Pick 'n Pay, who have kick started the donations “thermometer” with a R 100 000.00 donation.

This is an extremely generous donation by a sponsor who Rotary is very proud to be associated with. Thank you to Pick 'n Pay for their unwavering support to Rotary;

- our media partner, Cape Town Classical and Jazz station Fine Music Radio, whose vision is to uplift, inspire and entertain us – that they do;

- the small volunteer staff of technicians, musicians, performing artists who each year make Carols possible;

You may download your Carols sheet by going to the link, https://bit.ly/CarolsBooklet, and together we will raise our voices for Peace and Goodwill across the world!

Thanks to each of you.

Merry Christmas and enjoy a Peaceful, Healthy New Year.
