Maheta Molango is Of Counsel and Advisory Board Member at Baker McKenzie


From 2016 until 2020 Maheta was CEO of Spanish LaLiga professional soccer club Real Mallorca. He was appointed CEO of the club in January 2016 after Real Mallorca was bought by a group of US investors led by Robert Sarver and Andy Kohlberg (owners of the Phoenix Suns) and Steve Nash (2-time NBA MVP). Prior to joining Real Mallorca, Maheta was legal counsel at the soccer club Athlético Madrid. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Maheta played soccer at a professional level for several European clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Wacker Burghausen and Brighton & Hove Albion. After his playing career came to an end, he remained connected to the soccer world, as he worked for Charlton Athletic as a scout for the Spanish market and was a guest commentator on Real Madrid TV’s international channel.


Maheta still teaches several courses on a part-time basis at Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Centro de Estudios Garrigues, ISDE Law & Business School, and UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia. He is also a guest speaker at New York University (Madrid campus). Maheta is fluent in Italian, French, English and Spanish and proficient in German.


Having obtained a LL.B and B.A. Political Science from Charles III University of Madrid, he joined the employment law department of the Madrid office of Baker & McKenzie in April 2007.[23] In January 2008 he moved to the United States to study for the LL.M program in International Legal Studies at the American University Washington College of Law graduating in 2009 whilst also being the recipient of the college's Rubin Scholarship.[23] Returning to Madrid and Baker & McKenzie, he played part-time football in the 2009–2010 season for FC Villanueva del Pardillo in group one of the Preferente before moving on to join their divisional counterparts Unión Adarve for the 2010–2011 season.

Until 2020, Molango was the Chief Executive Officer of RCD Mallorca, a Spanish football club plays in La Liga.[24]
