ABOUT

Uganda sickle rescue foundation in partnership with CTI Africa have joined together to create a 'sickle free future in Uganda' campaign. We are creating awareness around the disease and have also launched a fundraising platform for the Sickle Cell community in Uganda.

We launched the campaign September 25th with the P.S. of Ministry of Health alongside the Director General, head of labs, commissioners and organizations involved in the Sickle Cell Response.

The funds will go to provide warriors with access to doctors remotely using telemedicine services, access to treatments, screening and testing, and we’re introducing the first patient run Sickle Cell Registry.

This registry provides a significant benefit for the sickle cell community and for efforts to share high quality information, resources, and to collect data that can be leveraged for advocacy, research, and awareness efforts. This is the first step to get warriors the best treatment in the country.

SCD is sometimes called the ‘silent disease’ its usually underfunded, overlooked, and forgotten. But it affects our communities greatly. It is currently the leading cause of under 5 deaths, and can be prevented with awareness and access to information on the disease.

We all know that there are so many causes to give towards and we wanted to give our generous donors a thank you through this challenge.

We encourage you or your organization to put in a prize or experience in order to get people to donate to this great experience. We Do More Challenge will enable more people to join this important cause.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
As a powerful organization and influential person, you have the opportunity to encourage thousands of people to donate to this important cause.
In Uganda, Sickle Cell Disease is a leading cause of death for under 5 years of age.

Many doctors in Uganda still do not have adequate training about sickle cell disease treatment, as it's not a priority.
Many people still do not know that by testing you and your partner before having a child can prevent sickle cell disease in children. Screening before birth is important because sickle cell disease can only be passed on if the mother and father BOTH carry the gene.

The stigma will also need to be discussed, many believe its witchcraft or its a disease that can be transferable by touch. This disease is purely genetic.
Uganda needs more awareness about this disease. It's treatable, it's manageable, and it's preventable with the right awareness.
Too many of our youth are dying and we need your help through the #WeDoMoreChallenge.

Please email [email protected] to give in your prizes, your experiences, and your time for the Raffle Pool.
We chose you because your resources can make a GREAT change!!!
