ABOUT

Feeding learners while at school during the COVID-19 pandemic lock down - you can't teach a hungry child.

The Gr7 and Gr. 12 learners are now back at school during the COVID-19 lock down. To combat hunger, the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) is providing daily cooked nutritious breakfasts and lunches to these learners affected by poverty, at their respective schools in the greater Cape Town area. The meals are being lovingly prepared by volunteer food preparers, most of whom are unemployed parents. PSFA is providing these volunteers with a monthly honorarium.

How much to donate? You can enter any amount, and it will all help. Keep in mind that the cost to provide a learner with a breakfast and lunch while at school for a day is only R2.50. A donation in the amount of R62 will enable PSFA to provide one learner with a daily breakfast and lunch for an entire month. R124 will feed two learners for a month, R186 will cover three learners for a month and so on. 100% of your donations will be allocated towards purchasing ingredients for these meals.

The impact of your donation

Your donation will positively effect these learners and their respective families in the following important ways:

  • Reduce their short term hunger
  • Increase their attendance and performance at school
  • Enhance their ability to learn
  • Build their immune systems which is vitally important during this COVID-19 pandemic
  • Increase their energy resulting in improved concentration in the classroom
  • Provide peace of mind to their parents/guardians who are unable to provide their children/wards with nutritious meals while at home – poverty alleviation

We thank you in advance for considering to support this special appeal.
