Overcoming Impostor Syndrome - Mini-Session for Women

Tue Aug 18, 19:00 - Tue Aug 18, 20:00

Event is online

ABOUT

Impostor syndrome is a psychological phenomenon that makes people question their achievements and abilities, making them feel inadequate and incompetent. In short, impostor syndrome makes people feel like they are frauds and that they are going to get caught out at any time.

Can you relate to that? Do you think that your academic or business success is because of luck or timing and that eventually people will 'catch on' and realise you're a fraud? Do you believe that any success you achieve is because of outside influences and not your own skills, knowledge or capabilities? Do you think that you have to work harder than everyone else and make sure everything is perfect?

If so, you're not alone. Impostor syndrome affects a large number of people, especially women, and mostly people who are high achievers. Impostor syndrome often leads to people 'downgrading' their goals and lowering their self-expectations to avoid feeling like an impostor in future. Ultimately meaning that impostor syndrome not only affects your confidence and self-esteem, but also affects your future prospects and prevents you from reaching your full potential.

What will be covered in this mini session:

  • What is impostor syndrome
  • The 5 types of impostor syndrome
  • 10 steps to overcoming impostor syndrome

Who is this workshop for:

High achieving business women and university students are more susceptible to impostor syndrome, so this mini session will be especially useful if you fall into one of these categories. However, it will be helpful for anyone who is experiencing impostor syndrome.
